Any thoughts on national average price per square foot putting up steel buildings anyone? Bet it's still lower than stick-built.

Probably depends on the application. A barn is going to be less than a church. Also area can make a big difference, permits in New York are going to be more expensive than New Mexico. A typical price for basic rigid-frame steel buildings is between $15 to $20 per square foot. This includes materials, delivery, the foundation, and construction. A more finished building may be closer to $20 to $30 per square foot, and extensively customized buildings with brick facades, unusual shapes, or complicated construction can reach $40 per square foot or more.

I'm pretty sure I heard from my insurance agent that traditional construction (on homes) is around $120 per square foot. I'm not sure if commercial buildings are higher.
Those two figures look about right. Depends on where you are in the country and the circumstances (i.e. is it a union pour for the concrete, are you building "green" etc,)

Who cares what the national average is? No offence intended but remember "all politics is local" and so is the square footage price of a steel building. (Once completed that is............)

Are you just interested academically in what it would be or is it a PR question? Like the other posters stated it's going to vary. i do agree with you overall that it is less expensive than wood.
