Are building inspectors really necessary for a metal building being built in the countryside? Evidently there seems to be some cross-over on juridiction for my township. My building is borderline to two cross-over jurisdictions looks like. One place says they are strict on permits, another says theyare not and my buddy says don't worry about it just put the dang thing up. I don't want to tell you where only because I don't want someone tipping them off IF I'm doing something wrong. I don't think I am.

Hey...I have seen on other forums where building inspector's actions are questioned too.I think it is just like any other trades...they're some bad uns and some good uns.

Seems like you would rather be safe than sorry and go with the stricter guidelines. Overall it will probably save you money in resale value or fines if somebody finds out and reports the violations.

Permitting issues are all over the park in this country. Also, depends on whether the inspector really "cares" about the violation. Little things might be overlooked bu the big stuff should get caught---if it;s wrong.
