I see a lot of metal buildings used as churches when driving through the South. Are most of these conversions from another use that was donated to the congregation or is it bought that way? Do metal building companies also supply these steeples and stained glass? Our spiritual community is growing and we need a new building. I want to know if this is a good choice. Thank you.

I doubt it. Steel building providers sell only the basics. I think accessories like windows, doors, exteriors, etc are all supplied by different vendors. And specialty items like you are talking about would be pretty specific to that application.

I think metal is a good way to go. I don't live in the South but I see a lot of metal churches in my community and they look nice. (Some you have to examine real close cause they don't look like metal.

I'd say go for metal, since it's relatively cheaper, and has lower maintenance costs.

Plus they resist heat and climate changes (which will come in handy in the long run due to this crazy weather). The only downside is that it won't look exactly like a traditional church (since they weren't built from metal). However, it will still look good provided that they do a good job and you choose a nice color/design.

As for the company supplying the materials, it depends. There are some companies that specialize in building metal churches so they might supply them.

Some metal churches you can't tell from stick-built because of the exterior facades they use.

Some metal building companies specialize in that type of thing. A lot of churches build with metal. It's a one stop shop too and you don't need this company for this and this company for that.
