A lot of metal building companies say all their parts are "pre-welded". So no welding at all, no even spot welding? Hard to believe that a welding machine on site of a metal building erection doesn't get some use. If not Iwill gladly stand corrected if someone knows.

Most metal buildings are advertised as "pre-welded, pre-drilled, and pre-cut>" The theory here is that they just go up like a giant erector set.
If it's pre-welded and you have to weld again wouldn't you question the quality of the fabrication of the structure. I don't think theres a call for any welding at all.

A lot of manufacturers use a single weld. There may be some call for double welds on certain lateral loading.

Plumbcat's right...that's a good question for engineering the building. I'm going to build a marina where there's lots of wind so I want double welding in critical areas.
