Can you use just the pre-engineered metal wall systems on a traditional building with a traditional membrane roof? I mean the building is already standing. Could be an inexpensive way to retro-fit a standing structure.

You can do just about anything but I would question the motivation. It it is a fix for a questionable wall system already standing then you are fooling yourself. It it is just a matter of aesthics than the right color and ribbed metal side panels might do the job. Good luck!

A lot for the looks but more so for the protection. Structurally the walls are fine.
