Shouldn't steel building manufacturers all suggest 1:12 roofs? If you get above 2:12 in most places that's a colored roof MORE MONEY and the greater the pitch the more inside area to be climate controlled MORE MONEY. The only benefits I see to steeper pitches are looks (are people really going to think you have a ski chalet in downtown Cleveland?) and snow drainage. Unless you have snowloads 50 and above aren't most roof drainage systems efficient regardless of the fact they are 1 on 12? OK enough questions I got carried away. But I do think it's a good idea for energy conservation.

I don't think that manufacturers suggest one on twelve but that the most common choice is one on twelve. As far as the energy conservation choice goes obviously an inappropriately insulated or non-isulated one on twelve is more of an energy "eater" than an appropriately insulated two on twelve.
