Do people still use pole barns? They used to be real popular but I remember somebody told me once that because it is a combination of wood and metal that after some years the wood has to be replaced or somehow reinforced again. I could be wrong but I think I heard that.

I don't know about the wood but there's lots of do-it-yourself type of operations and guidelines online that will show you how to do it yourself.

And they don't talk about the refitting or replacement...is that a deep, dark secret?

There's plenty of companies that still do pole barns. Just Google it and you will find em. Must still be a lot of buyers out there.

Still don't see about the wood though.

Pole barns are generally seen as yesterday's technology...there are a lot of other metal building configurations that are inexpensive and more reliable.

What's less expensive than a pole barn?

Some 29 gauge applications but I wouldn't recommend them.
