Metal Warehouse Buildings

Building a new warehouse building is a serious decision. It is likely that your company will be using this facility for many years. You want the most value for your money at a fair price. That is why finding the right construction materials is so important. Not all metals are created equally. Steel offers the best durability of conventional construction metals. Here are just some of the advantages steel has over wood and other metals

1.         Steel warehouse buildings can be pre-engineered for faster, less-expensive construction. Depending on the metal supplier, your steel can be pre-drilled, pre-welded and pre-punched before being delivered to your worksite. You save both construction time and money (in some cases as much as 50%) when you make steel your metal of choice.

2.         Using steel metal in the construction of your new warehouse may make you eligible for savings on insurance costs. Why? Since steel does not burn, it will not fuel a fire like wood. When a fire reaches inside the walls of a wood-framed building, it can be difficult to extinguish. When a fire occurs in a steel building, it may be possible to contain the fire in a single area.

3.         The modern warehouse generally requires large areas of open space for the flexibility to store a range of goods in different configurations. No other building material is able to accommodate these needs as well as steel. Steel metal can come in such a high-grade that it gives you a clear-spans up to 300 feet wide. This column-free interior supplies you with more flexibility in storing equipment, inventory, and planning office space. You do not have to plan your lay-out around those immovable load-bearing walls. With most other building materials this would be very difficult to achieve on a cost effective basis. But, with steel you will have this benefit and still be able to meet and even surpass the requirements of your local codes.

4.         Steel warehouse buildings no longer have to look like an ordinary steel structure. Steel warehouse buildings may be customized to match the look of existing buildings and to meet your local zoning requirements. Decorative brick, stone, rock, stucco, wood, glass, aggregate panels, entry-way canopies, and many more component options are available. The possibilities are endless when you build your warehouse with steel metal.

5.         When you use a high-grade of steel metal you benefit greatly with straight walls and tight connections to help provide for a climate-controlled environment which, if necessary, can help protect your inventory, or at least be a more comfortable working atmosphere. Also, the door-frames are bolted steel-to-steel giving stronger security and protection of your goods. And, when it comes to your doors, you have a variety of options to choose from including bi-fold, bi-parting, and stacking.  This means that you can rest assured knowing that your valuable inventory will be well-protected. A variety of eave heights are available as well to accommodate your needs.

6.         Warehouses that are built using traditional construction methods, can require a significant amount of maintenance depending on the materials used. However, steel metal warehouses offer low lifetime maintenance so you can spend your time and money elsewhere. This low-maintenance is accomplished in its durability. For example, steel is highly resistant to water, mold, mildew, termites and other wood-destroying insects. Termites account for a high percentage of property damage each year. In recent years, a new breed of termite, the Formosan termite, has been detected throughout the country. These termites destroy wood faster and grow larger colonies than any other known termite species. Pressure treated lumber is not immune to their attack and insurance will not cover the damage they cause. Obviously, termites are unable to cause any damage to a steel metal structure. Also, steel warehouses are designed to withstand adverse weather conditions such as high winds produced by sever thunderstorms and the weight of heavy rain and snow-fall. You will not find such strength and durability with other materials.
